LCAA Plein Air Excursion: Cedar Meadow Farm, Holtwood, PA June 29, 2010

Friday July 2, 2010

Tuesday evening I went with a group from the Lancaster County Art Association to Cedar Meadow Farm. This is a preserved farm that uses no-till methods. It was fun to see the herd of buffalo, although they stayed far away.
I liked the view from the edge of their pumpkin field, the way the rows of pumpkin plants curved with the land and the silo in the distance.
After awhile I took a break to get something to eat and drink. When I came back there were cows in the field just beyond the pumpkins. They must have just been let out after milking. I couldn’t resist adding them to my painting. A curious one was watching me from the far field, too!
